  Does anyone remember a district overseer Joe Slaiman?

  joe slaiman and his wife jean were in the travelling work in australia throughout the 90's... ( i may have spelt the name incorrectly).

  anyone remember them?

  they were very well liked by many of the brothers and sisters.. i wonder what happened to him?

  This was a really good thread! I wish Joe would continue to post!

  It amazes me how different ones can read the same thing I am reading and come up with a whole different conclusion. I believe most people here that post, if not all of them, are honest individuals, just trying to sort out this game of life and dealing with the fact we have been let down by an Organization that promised us so much! It does hurt deeply and makes us more suspicious of the things we read or hear to not "get fooled again". Nobody here has had a "Bad Experience" with Joe. Please with hold the negative comments, unless you have the facts, not just some speculation or a suspicion.

  Is there any evidence that the WTS stated the 20th century would be the last?

  i know that other early dates are well documented leading up to 1975. it did seemed that the wts learned to stop setting dates, but i seem to recall talk about the 20th century will certainly be the last according to god's perfect timing.

  i can't recall specifically where i heard such blatant rhetoric though.. anyone?

  I had a discussion with an Elder about this Subject, he denied our publications every said this. I went back to the KH Library and pulled a 1990 Awake Bound Volume, there on page 2, "Why the Awake is Published" : ... this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away. ( Everyone that was alive back in 1914 are dead now)

  How Far Up The Ladder Did You Go In JW Land?

  i pretty much did it all.

  vacation pioneered as a youngster and became a regular pioneer out of school.

  i became a ms then an elder.....the organization pushes you to be somebody within the confines of their realm.

  MS 5 Years, Elder 21 Years, 14 of them as a Reg Pioneer, All positions on BOE, including 5 years as PO/ Coordinator, RBC Roofing overseer, Attendant Overseer for the Circuit and District, Went to Elder School at Patterson, finally on the Convention Committee. 36 years of Service, pissed away and lost. Struggling to make in my late 50's, working full time and trying to have a little something for retirement, although I will never be able to fully retire.
